What is TPE?
For 50 years, TPEs have proven their reliability in various industries such as construction, automotive, transport, food, pharmaceuticals, ...
TPE stands for thermoplastic elastomer. It is an extensive family of plastics with rubber-like behaviour. From a technical point of view, TPEs are positioned between conventional plastics and elastomers and are used as a material base for technical profiles, seals and other multifunctional components.
Different types exist within the TPE family. As a result, the properties of TPEs can vary greatly. Depending on the composition, the material can differ in hardness, flexibility, elasticity, surface texture, mechanical strength and resistance to temperature or certain environmental influences.
TPEs can therefore, by definition be used in many areas of application.
The advantages of TPE
Design freedom
TPEs offer endless design possibilities. Through co-extrusion, we provide a combination of colours, hardnesses and functionalities in one extruded profile.
Properties
TPE combines durability, elasticity, weather resistance and dynamic performance with tailor-made properties, such as UV resistance, chemical resistance and variants suitable for WRAS and food contact,...
Green label
TPEs are highly recycable using conventional techniques. The residual streams can be reused, which contributes to the environment and a low ecological footprint.
Consistent quality
At Dextr, consistent quality is central. With our extrusion experience, targeted material choices and process control, we deliver TPE profiles with stable dimensions and reliable performance.
Standard profiles and custom-made TPE profiles
A large proportion of our standard profiles are manufactured in TPE. Our range includes a wide variety of shapes and designs for different technical applications. View our standard profiles .
Cannot find the right profile? Dextr also develops and extrudes fully custom-made TPE profiles. Together, we consider the required shape, hardness, colour, properties and possible combinations through co-extrusion. Throughout this process, you can always contact one of our team members directly for technical advice and personal guidance .
